Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer (electrical bias)

The Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer will contribute to optimal efficiency of specific line(s) by focusing on quality, production, hygiene, housekeeping and any relevant machine issues.

To maintain and repair any faults on plant and equipment, liaising with production personnel regarding serviceability.  

To be proactive carrying out identified modifications and improvements to all plant and equipment ensuring efficiency and effectiveness of equipment.

Carrying out and documenting routine checks and tests to a defined schedule.

This role is within the Chill Engineering team and duties include attending breakdowns of equipment and completing planned preventative maintenance, and involvement with CI projects that will be happening in the department.

Ensure all maintenance work is completed to a high standard within specifications and with minimal downtime.

The Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer will:

• Be literate and numerate so that checks can be carried out and recorded accurately and legibly.
• Be flexible in their working hours to ensure that cover is maintained.
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a close team.
• Be competent in all of the major computer packages i.e.: Microsoft office, as well as the ability to accurately record data and produce required reports.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills which are essential for effectively dealing with customers, internal departments and suppliers.
• Have a good working knowledge of PLCs (Siemens S7, Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi)
• Good understanding of engineering drawing packages such as Visio and AutoCAD.
• Safety conscious and an awareness of PTW rules.


• Experience in maintaining accurate records including filing and archiving systems
• Previous experience of continuous improvement
Have experience of SAP Maintenance Management systems


• An understanding of the FMCG Manufacturing environment.
• Experience of maintaining high speed, technically complex equipment.
• Fully computer literate.
• Hold a formal Engineering Qualification relating to the discipline (i.e. City and Guilds or BTEC, HNC certificate).
• Have received basic food hygiene training
• Be aware of emergency procedures.
• Be aware of safety implications of hazardous materials used and the precautions necessary for their use.
• Have received manual handling training.
• Understanding of Equal Opportunities and anti-discrimination practices
• Be aware of correct PPE usage and storage


Be aware of company policy regarding; Quality, Environment, Occupational Health and Safety and Personal Hygiene.
